SEAWAY ROAD IMPROVEMENTS

about this project

The City of Gulfport engaged Brown, Mitchell & Alexander, Inc.. (BMA) in the Seaway Road project to expand it from a two-lane undivided roadway into a four-lane divided boulevard section. The project included drainage improvements, utility relocations, traffic signals, and a railroad crossing. BMA was selected since we had the most knowledge and experience working in the area and with the Harrison County Development Commission on prior projects along the Industrial Park.

The project required coordination with the Harrison County Development Commission (HCDC), the Harrison County Board of Supervisors, and businesses in the Bernard Bayou Industrial District regarding scheduling regarding construction scheduling and other issues that arose during the project.

The construction phase was planned in a way that minimized disruption of traffic on a heavily traveled roadway. The project was split into two (2) phases to accommodate funding with the east end funded by HUD/Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the west side reconstruction/widening of Seaway Road funded by FHWA/MDOT -LPA process.
