The Point Cadet Marina is the largest marina in Biloxi. It brings in tourists for fishing tournaments, like the Mississippi Classic Billfish Tournament, a qualifying event for the World Billfish Series and Offshore World Championship for 26 years.
The City of Biloxi has developed a long-term plan for Point Cadet with the goal of providing public access and enjoyment to the coast. Outfitted with the Point Cadet Plaza, which includes a large pavilion, splash pad, playground, public restroom facilities, and the recently completed pedestrian pathway. In celebration of this area and its fishing tournament’s traditions, the next steps in the City’s plans are to update and improve the Point Cadet Marina.
The City of Biloxi retained BMA in association with Simpkins and Costelli, Inc., Southern Earth Sciences, Inc., Welcon Electrical Consultants, PLLC, Tice Engineering, Inc., and Applied Technology and Management, Inc. to provide professional engineering services required for the design and construction of the Point Cadet Marina Improvements. BMA served as the overall lead of the project and provided engineering design services, RPR, surveying, and regulatory permitting. The city looked to utilize multiple funding sources for the buildout of the marina improvements. BMA navigated the funding source requirements to develop scopes of work that was most advantageous for the city and prospective contractors.
The project scope includes adding 33 floating docks, the rehabilitation of 200 ft of steel bulkhead, utilities (fire, water, and sewer services), and upland improvements to the parking lot, pathways, and additional green space. The project’s anticipated completion is in late 2023.
